Well...it's THAT day again...the one where folks get all upset if they aren't loved :o(
How bizarre is that?
Why does the date dictate how much love a person has or gives?
I HATE this day...but I LOVE almost everyone and everything...so...from me...
You are all loved...promise...someone, somewhere loves you...
You may know them...
You may not...
One day...you will...it just takes a little patience...
So...lean into the 'puter screen and I'll blow you a BIG Elf kiss...
Just so that you feel loved...(*blow*)
I'm not christian so I don't do the whole V day thing...but my Giant Troll does celebrate the Roman equivalent...(sometimes...if he feels the need)...he's a little 'Old Fash' my Troll...and he will insist in writing doggerel poetry for me...sigh...you know how big Trolls are...how can an Elf stop a Troll?
Needless to say...it made me laugh...
I s'pose that's love for you...;o)
Oh well...for those celebrating...may love trickle over your toes like the lovely stream in springtime...(?)
For those who are V-Grinches (like me)...kiss the mirror and say 'I love you'...
Well if it was good enough for Oscar Wilde...:o)

You are such a grumpy lil elf at times.......but I have to agree with you on this one. I'm not fond of V day myself. That's why years ago I gave up thinking I was gonna get a Valentine. So I also gave up giving them, except to the kids. Well what do you know....SM remembered all on his very own. His card was cute and silly, just like him. But lets see maybe 3 times in 39 years.....I guess I should be thankful for the effort.
So Ms. Grumpy Elf.....I love you sweet one...have a tolerable V day. Kiss, Kiss, Hug, Hug.......the Olde Bagg herself
Linda...it isn't common over here to give V's cards to our children...it's just for the grown ups...
Maybe that makes it more difficult for those poor un-loved ones :o(
I like the idea of giving cards to non-lovers though it sounds much better...as long as they're home made...can't stand the mass-produced market fleecing souls for greed...
There I go again...
I'll step down from the elfin soap box ;o)
Well my Gloomy one you aren't alone. I think V Day is a bit weird. I don't celebrate it, but I acknowledge it for those who do. My Piano Man doesn't care about it either, so wooohooo! We love each other every day and celebrate our all the time, some days louder than others.
Over the years, I've tried to use V Day to point out the irony of celebrating a day of love, when so many are not even allowed to love each other or get any regular loving.
Magaly...
How very true...
I understand your sentiments! we dont go in for the commercial hype much here either, we're soppy fools here most of the time anyway and if we need a day picked out specifically to remind us of the fact we love each other, then we do it on the anniversaries of our wedding day & of when we met. Bahhh luvvbug LOL
A friend of mine put it this way... because of his love, Saint Valentine was eventually imprisoned, beaten, stoned, and beheaded. They don't tell you that on the cards do they!!!
Ah my grumpy grumpy elf, I love you. ;)
The lovely and I typically celebrate, but not in a mass consumer way, as we love each other every single day! We use this day as a day to unwind, exchange small handmade tokens and then stay home and cook up something grand for dinner. We're often so busy that while we try to make time to just 'be' together it's nice to have a day set aside to do just that. (this isn't reserved specifically to V'day mind you, but several other holidays as well)
no one can get a giggle from me like you Cee.... leave it to you to "hate" Valentines day... do you not even like the chocolate a bit... although I think I am a bit in agreement with you.. I am with all the men who claim it is just an excuse for the card companys, florist and so forth to get a bit more money out of you...
But thanks for the elf kiss..... I still bet a little chocolate you make you smile. :-)
Depends on the year, sometimes I'm a lover & sometimes I'm a grinch. I just wasn't feeling it this year, for whatever reason. Glad to know I'm not alone.
Wendy...
Quite right...the whole St Valentine story is a rather gruesome one...
Strange how folks can put a good spin on things...
Or maybe it's just the fact that we buy into media hype?
How lovely that you have your very own love bird! :o)
Danni...
Me grumpy?
Don't know where that's coming from...I might not come to your party now ;o)
Wow...so many love birds on here...you are all so lovely....with your little love nests...you really do not need a special day do you?
I knew that you would make your own love tokens Danni...my crafty little one...
I love you too!
Janie!!!
You're alive!
Why is it you always get a laugh out of me?
you are one very strange cookie ;o)
I blow a special kiss to my lovlies...'cos you know I miss you all terribly when I can't get to visit you all.
And yep...quite right about the chocolate...though as I eat some very dark choc on a regular basis (daily!)...there's no need to have it on one day a year...that's far too strict for my taste buds! ;o)
I'm so happy to see you here my sweet pea...:o)
I love you too!
so much love around this blog at the moment I may get faint!
Dawn...
Yay another grinch :o)
I'm growing faint with all the love around this blog...nice to know I have company ;o)
